Glycosphingolipid is a kind of functional complex-lipid, having framework structure of ceramide bound to hydrophilic glycoside chain, and has good water-dispersible property.

Biosphingo is cosmetic ingredient, containing high concentration of glycosphingolipids and phospholipids known as natural emulsifier, which are extracted from bacterial cell membrane (Sphingomonas paucimobilis). Biosphingo is containing more than 40% of glycosphingolipids and some phospholipids from cell membrane. Glycosphingolipids which are contained in the Biosphingo are consisted of mono- and tetra-glycosil sphingo lipids.
