Overview

In general, DagangHalal means “Halal Trading”.

DagangHalal is a combination of two words – Dagang + Halal. The word “Dagang” means “Trading" in major Muslim populated countries in South East Asia for e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore. It is commonly used in these countries and in fact, it has been said that this word was originated from Arab when the Arabian traders started trading in South East Asia during the 14th century.

Halal” or “Halaal” on the other hand is a common and important term amongst the Muslims as it is referring to the object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Qur'an. To the wider world, halal is commonly associated with the preparation of food. But it is more than that - an aspect of Islamic law which encompasses a wider range of goods and services such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, Islamic finance and many others. Thus it is utmost important for all Muslims to consume Halal certified products and conduct any trading in the Halal way.

DagangHalal’s main objective is to provide a single platform for the ease of worldwide Muslims to source and promote for quality Halal products and services.

DagangHalal, one of the world’s largest business marketplaces featuring Halal products and services, is working closely with local and international Halal certification authorities to promote Halal trade. It introduced the first and innovative Halal Trade Manager, which is a trading management tool linking up all the Halal merchants, products and services with the worldwide Muslim market of 1.8 billion consumers. The marketing experts estimated the Halal segment alone is worth USD2.1 trillion and growing by $500 billion annually.
