Hup Seng was established in 1958 as Hup Seng Company, which was started by the 4 Kerk's brothers in Batu Pahat, Johor Malaysia. In 1974 it was converted to private limited company as Hup Seng Perusahaan Makanan (M) Sdn. Bhd.
Presently HSPM is one (1) of the subsidiaries of Hup Seng Industries Berhad ("HSIB") which is listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad since November 2000. The other 2 subsidiary companies of HSIB are Hup Seng Hoon Yong Brothers Sdn. Bhd. and In-Comix Food Industries Sdn. Bhd., which was acquired in 2005.
The principal activity of HSPM is the manufacturing and sale of biscuits. The products manufacture by HSPM is to cater for the entire local and as well as international market. With an international market coverage of 51 countries that spans into Asia, Africa, Oceanic, Europe and North America, Hup Seng products have captured the hearts of consumers of all ages around the world. All the biscuits manufactured by HSPM have been certified as "Halal" by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia
